      Trustworthy AI and confidential computing for marketing analytics




1. Project Overview



AltruData is an innovative data collaboration platform that leverages trustworthy AI and confidential computing to empower small and medium businesses with privacy-preserving, insight-rich marketing analytics. Despite $175 billion being invested in data collaboration technologies, 73% of U.S. small and medium businesses still struggle with fragmented data silos and a lack of accessible, scalable solutions. AltruData was designed to bridge this critical gap by providing a secure, intuitive, and mutually beneficial environment for first-party data sharing.

At the heart of the platform is Data Clean House—a privacy-first data exchange framework that facilitates seamless collaboration between advertisers and publishers. By integrating Confidential Computing, Differential Privacy, and Generative AI, the system ensures that sensitive consumer data is never exposed during the analysis process, while still generating reliable, actionable insights. Confidential computing provides hardware-level security for compliant data processing; differential privacy mathematically protects user identity; and generative AI offers an intuitive interface for co-training and shared intelligence.

Together, AltruData and Data Clean House reimagine how marketing data can be accessed, shared, and activated—without sacrificing privacy or trust. This platform sets a new standard for ethical, scalable data collaboration in an increasingly privacy-conscious digital economy.

2.  Design Process

As the UI Designer on the AltruData project, I was responsible for shaping the product’s visual and interaction design while facilitating communication across disciplines. My key contributions included:

  • Designing and producing the pitch deck to clearly communicate the product’s value and vision
  • Collaborating closely with the engineering team to ensure the feasibility and accuracy of UI implementation
  • Working with product managers to align design decisions with business and user needs
  • Establishing a scalable design system to ensure consistency across components and screens
  • Creating high-fidelity prototypes to demonstrate key interactions and support user testing and stakeholder presentations

5. Dataset Interface
Designing for confidential computing presented unique challenges:

  • Communicating Security: Creating visual cues that instill trust and communicate the secure nature of data processing
  • Balancing Transparency: Providing enough information about AI processes without overwhelming users with technical details
  • Performance Feedback: Designing appropriate loading states and feedback mechanisms for secure computing operations that inherently take longer
