Digital Biodôme
Create a unique abstract blossom by your smile face, and let it bloom in a digital, collaborative online Biodôme
-
TouchDesigner: Used as the primary platform for real-time interactive media compositions and to integrate various digital assets and interactions within the project.
- MediaPipe: Implements facial recognition to accurately track facial expressions, specifically targeting smiles and large smiles (with the jaw open).
-
Stable Diffusion: Utilized to generate unique digital blossoms and goldfish based on the shapes derived from participants' smiles.
Using the MediaPipe plugin with TouchDesigner, the system continuously monitors and detects facial expressions from a live video feed. The detection algorithm focuses on identifying two key expressions:
Smile Face: A standard smile with closed lips.
Big Smile Face: An expressive smile with the jaw noticeably open.
Creation of Digital Entities
Upon detecting a smile:
Shape Generation: A unique, random shape is generated corresponding to each detected smile.
Image Generation: Utilizing Stable Diffusion, this shape is transformed into a digital blossom or goldfish. The choice between blossoms and goldfish is made randomly, adding variety and unpredictability to the digital ecosystem.
Each newly created digital entity (blossom or goldfish) is automatically uploaded to the Digital Biodôme's webpage. These entities are placed at random positions within the digital space, and each placement is documented with a timestamp and the geographical location of the creation if available.
