1. Project Overview

Hi Astronaut! PlanetPace is a product using AI system to generate task maps. It is aimed to alleviate the anxiety facing procrastination from the psychological perspective.

For individuals receiving higher educations or facing tasks from various categories, procrastinations exist because of their resistance towards getting start. They are overwhelmed by works and lack of motivations.

Why Procrastination?

Overestimation of how much time one has left to perform tasks
Overestimation of how motivated one will be in the future
Underestimation of how long certain activities will take to complete
Mistakenly assumption of the necessity to be in the right frame of mind to work on a project

2. Design Process

The design process began with in-depth user research, including persona creation and qualitative interviews. By synthesizing insights from real student voices, we identified common pain points such as difficulty initiating tasks, digital distractions, and the need for external motivation.

We then conducted a competitive analysis of existing productivity tools like Forest, Notion, TickTick, and CoStudy to evaluate their strengths and limitations. Based on this research, we created a feature prioritization matrix focused on usability, clarity, and emotional engagement. Core features identified included a timer, a task mapping system, and an AI-driven assistant for classification, planning, and behavioral feedback.

Planet Pace is equipped with three core features that work together to support task management, focus, and motivation in a gamified and emotionally resonant way:

Automatic Road-map Generation
Users’ to-do lists are automatically transformed into visualized roadmaps through an intelligent scheduling algorithm. This allows users to clearly see task dependencies, completion paths, and time estimates—all of which are adaptive and update based on real-time performance.

Task-to-Concentration Mode
Designed to help users dive quickly into deep work, this focus mode dims the interface and launches a distraction-free environment where task progress is tracked visually, promoting mindfulness and reducing screen-based interruptions.

Reward Galaxy
To foster a sense of accomplishment, completed tasks are visualized as stars that accumulate in a personal galaxy. Over time, stars form constellations based on categories, creating a playful and motivating reward system grounded in visual storytelling.

Together, these features transform time management into an immersive, interactive, and self-reflective experience—reframing productivity through personalization and play.
